Description: JEAN DE BOSSCHERE (1881-1953)PLEASE SEE ALL PICS. An illustrator and this art was done for the books titled ALL THE EXTANT WORKS OF FRANÇOIS RABELAIS. By Francois Rabelais, translated by Samuel Putnam and illustrated by Jean de Bosscrt here. Done in 1929.This painting is one of three. The others are listed separately. The second pic shows the book with the art. Signed lower left. Gouache I believe, with some flaking in the color there are also areas in the border painted white, possibly to cover foxing. So not perfect, but interesting. The frame, also matted.. 17.5" by 13.5".Art showing 12.5" by 8.75"There is a note at the back of the art, shown in the pics as well. See pics for detail and size..
