Description: Solid Red Brass wire for wire wrapping is hard to find. I had this batch custom made for my own wire wrapping projects. It is a little easier to work with than yellow brass, and produces finished pieces with a beautiful golden bronze color. The offer consists of 10 feet of square, 18 gauge, half hard, solid Red Brass wire. This wire is solid, not plated. Since it is solid, the color will not rub or scratch off. About Red Brass Technically Red Brass is a bronze alloy made from approximately 85% copper and 15% zinc. It contains no lead or nickel. Red Brass is easier to work with than traditional yellow brass. Yellow Brass is much stiffer, and harder to bend. Red Brass does not tarnish but does oxidize very slowly to form an antique patina over time. In its highly polished state, Red Brass resembles 14K gold in color and shine. Red Brass also goes by the name Jeweler's Bronze, and Low Brass. It also goes by the brand names NU Gold, and Merlin's Gold.
