Industrial cut-offs. NOTE: Several pieces are very slightly bowed (see first and second photos). Steel starts oxidizing and getting minor surface rust after it's been cleaned of machine oil. This is superficial and will disappear with a bit of machining. If you're storing it for a while, use your cleaning material of choice and then spray with WD40. These are unused lathe cut-offs: --Tool marks ARE present on the rounds. --Surfaces may be scratched. --Due to how small these are, pieces have NOT been de-burred: ends may be SHARP so pls be careful * Items have been cleaned Details: * 1018 is a general purpose low-carbon steel used for moderate cold-forming and bending. (For severe bends, stress relieving may be necessary to prevent cracking.) * 1018 is the most commonly available of the cold-rolled steels; good combination of strength along with some ductility and comparative ease of machining. * Suitable for carburized parts, such as gears, worms, machine parts, tool holders, etc. Used when good workability is required, on parts requiring threading, drilling, punching, and machining.
