Description: Listing is for a mixed lot of over 100+ HEIRLOOM HOLLYHOCK SEEDS. They are mostly singles but a few may be semi-double. These seeds have been grown and handed down in our family for over 50 years. The lot will include variations of petal colors including shade of pink from very light to dark pink. There is even a very dark maroon. Petals can be scalloped or smooth or serrated edged. Centers vary from white to light pink to medium pink to dark pink. The best way to start hollyhocks when you have a mixed group like this, is to scatter new seeds into loosened soil in existing beds and water them in. You may expect to get around 30 to 50% germination. After they come up and get their second set of leaves, thin them to at least 12"apart. You can transplant them in the fall or early spring.. Starting in individual pods will increase germination to about 50 to75%. They like full to partial sun and well-drained soil. If left undisturbed, plants drop dry seeds and put-up a few young plants. Again you will need to thin them so they can reach their full height. If I never planted another seed, I would have hollyhocks forever.. These are fresh seeds harvested recently. for planting in 2024. You may start new seeds in July or August during the time the plants naturally drop seeds to the ground for replenishing. They can also be started in pods in very early spring. They are biennial and usually bloom the second year if planted this way. You will get higher percent of germination in pods. Here in central Arkansas, hollyhocks often return several years from the original root, but I do allow new seedlings to grow to ensure the continuation of my varied types. I hand measure and pack the seeds to insure you get a good mix. . WE SHIP ONLY TO US ADDRESSES. NO DROP SHIPMENT, PLEASE.
