Description: I need to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection (and this is one of my best). Dragon’s first release in their large scale aircraft series was a poorly received P-51 that was panned for its poor level of detail and accuracy issues. Apparently, they were determined not to make that same mistake again with their next release. They created the Wing Tech series and really nailed this release of the twin engine Bf 110. This particular variant was designed for the long-range anti-shipping role with additional fuel and oil stored in the Dackelbauch (meaning "dachshund belly"). This kit comes loaded with all the goodies you need, including a well-detailed cockpit and nose gun bay with machine guns and ammo feeds, engines with over two dozen parts, sturdy landing gear, multi-part canopy and photo-etch parts for seat belts. There are dozens of listings for this kit on eBay (mostly from distant overseas sellers), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this item to you very quickly. Here are a few examples of the abundant praise for the quality and stunning detail of this kit from around the web: The Dragon Models site has one of their trademark full color posters along with a long list of top-notch features of this jaw-dropping kit and the following blurb promoting the kit: One of Germany’s famous fighters of WWII was the Messerschmitt Bf110, a twin-engine heavy fighter (Zerstörer or “destroyer” in German) that later developed into a fighter-bomber and then into the Luftwaffe’s principal night fighter. The Bf110C was the first major series-production version of this aircraft, and an effort to increase its range resulted in the Bf110D Langstrecken (“long-range”) Zerstörer. This extended-range version based on the Bf110C was fitted with external fuel tanks (e.g. 900-liter under-wing tanks or the Dackelbauch tank, the latter occasionally subject to mysterious mid-air explosions because of insufficiently vented and volatile fuel/air mixes!). The Bf110D was fielded in time to participate in the Norwegian Campaign against British and French forces in the far north of the country. Later, many aircraft were stationed in Norway so as to perform anti-shipping missions and conduct long-range raids against the north of the United Kingdom. The specific Bf110D-1/R-1, the first long-range variant, entered service in May 1940. However, its massive 1200-liter external belly Dackelbauch tank adversely affected the aircraft’s maneuverability. Dragon has released a 1/32 scale model kit of the Bf110D-1/R-1, which follows hot on the tail of the Bf110C-7 (Item No. 3203) with its impressive level of detail and metal-skinned pattern. This kit features the characteristic Dackelbauch fuel tank, which is naturally newly tooled and possesses a unique ribbed appearance. Aircraft modelers seeking a distinctive aircraft will find this variant with its huge ventral fuel tank just the answer! The fuselage has also been correctly extended at the rear. The undercarriage can be displayed retracted or deployed, while photo-etched seatbelts add a high degree of finesse to the finished product. This new aircraft model is accurate, contains an ultimate level of detail and is easy to assemble. Interestingly, the nickname Dackelbauch means “Daschund belly” so this Bf110D will certainly get modelers’ tails wagging! Scalemates.com shows that this was the 2009 release based on a brand-new tooling in 2008 that has been the basis of eight releases across the Dragon, Cyber Hobby, Revell and Hobby 2000 brands. They provide a link to download the complete two-color 8-page instruction set and painting guide. There are links to reviews, aftermarket parts, references and galleries to get you primed for your build. Scott Van Aken delivered a brief Kit Preview on the modelingmadness.com site that has a history of the aircraft and its operations. We only get the parts layout from the instructions along with the box art, but he reproduced Dragon’s long list of amazing features of this wonderful kit. He notes that this kit is very similar to the previous Bf110 release (DML #3203), which was a stunning success. He concludes his exceptionally favorable review with: “It is another fine addition to Dragon's 1/32 kit line and while I understand that it is a complex build, those I've seen finished have been beautiful.” Rowan Baylis posted an informative In-Box Review on the archive.aeroscale.net site that has 20 high-resolution photos of the kit parts, including full sprues, PE parts, decals and markings. He refers to his review of the parent kit and focusses on the differences. Unsurprisingly, he was as thrilled with this release as the previous one and said: “Dragon's Bf 110D looks another superb kit. If you like large scale Luftwaffe kits, Dragon's Bf 110 is pretty much a "must have" addition to any collection.” Frank Reynolds did a first-rate Build Review on the modelingmadness.com site with an extensive background of the Bf 110. We also got 10 close-up photos of his finished model, along with his valuable guidance for smooth completion. For some reason, he omitted the dachshund belly from his fighter, but he was very pleased with the precise engineering and great fit of the kit and summarized with: “This is a premium product that I would rate at 90%. The mouldings are excellent and in my opinion on par with anything in the market place.” This kit is in a large, sturdy box about 21” x 13” x 4”. As you can see from the pictures, the box is in great shape and is still secured with tape strips, so I consider it factory sealed and definitely gift-ready. This item contains one complete injection molded plastic model kit with over 380 plastic parts, thirteen photo etched parts and a large sheet of Cartograf decals for two different aircraft. It requires cement and paint to complete as shown. I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally. Auction winner pays winning bid plus, for a limited time, I am offering this huge kit with $12 Flat Rate Shipping in the US! No reserve and a low starting bid. Check out my other great auctions for combined shipping. Good luck! Those familiar with my listings can tell that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
