Description: I need to clear some space on my shelves, so I have to part with some of my collection. THIS IS MY LAST ONE! As scary as the Tiger tank was to Allied armies, you can imagine the reaction to the massive King Tiger when it showed up at the end of the war. When I think of Airfix, I think of aircraft models and 1/76 scale armor. They are trying to change that by adding a line of 1/35 scale armor to their offerings. To start, they are not making them in-house, but reboxing Academy’s kits, which are pretty good. The tooling on this one is fairly new (2013) so you are getting a modern kit rather than a more ‘classic’ one. It comes with Link-and-Length tracks, photo etched detail parts and even a set of four figures. There are dozens of listings for this kit on eBay (mostly from Europe), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this to you very quickly. Here is some of the info I found from around the web about this exciting kit: The Airfix site (uk.airfix.com) has a decent page for this kit, showing the excellent box art and painting schemes. They also provide the following information about the King Tiger: The ultimate development of German tank technology during WWII, the Tiger II or King Tiger was a 68 ton beast which introduced the latest development of the feared 88mm anti-tank gun, which was capable of knocking out any Allied tank at ranges approaching 3km. First used during the Battle of Normandy in the days following the Allied D-Day landings, the cost and complexity of these massive tanks dictated that only 489 would eventually be produced, with the price of each King Tiger equating to an equivalent cost for nine American Sherman tanks. · Link-and-Length tracks included· Transport (narrower) tracks are provided, not Combat (wider) tracks· High accuracy of the details· Highly detailed photo-etched parts· Two marking options available Scalemates.com has a listing that shows this is a 2020 release based on the 2013 Academy tooling that has been the basis for five releases across the Academy, Airfix, Eduard and Modelist brands. The page provides a link to download the complete 12-page full-color Instruction Set and Painting Guide along with plenty of links to a review, aftermarket parts and resources to prepare you for your build. Mike presented an interesting In-Box Review on the britmodeller.com forum site. He gives us ten professional shots of the sprues, photo etched metal fret, decals and painting guide. He describes the unique construction sequence and the nice features of this extensive kit. His Conclusion starts with: “The Academy plastic is good stuff and should be a simple build if you stick to the manual and don't add anything yourself. A good representation of a KT should be the result, and with a little careful weathering, it will look every inch the monster that it was.” This kit is in a large, sturdy box about 16” x 10” x 3.5”. As you can see from the pictures, the package has some minor damage from shipping with one end taking a hit that broke the tape strip. The others are intact, and the box cannot be opened, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely build-ready. This item contains one complete injection molded plastic model kit of the lethal King Tiger tank with detailed beige and black plastic parts, a fret of photo etched metal parts, narrow transport Link-and-Length tracks, four crew figures and a set of decals. It requires cement and paint to complete as shown. I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally. Auction winner pays winning bid and for a limited time, this large item is offered with $12 Flat Rate Shipping in the US! No reserve and a low starting bid. Check out my other great auctions and listings for combined shipping. Good luck! Those familiar with my listings can tell that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
