Why use a generic crate when you could use the real thing? The idea is to add the ammo crates, in some cases a little battle damaged, missing from your kit or display that would normally be associated with that item, or simply to enhance your model in any way. For example, ASP Set Four contains two open and two closed crates of ten Bangalore Torpedoes each, three crates of two large 'pancake' heavy anti-tank mines, two crates of six anti-personnel mines, two boxes of four 57mm Recoilless Rifle rounds, and two boxes of twenty 37mm canister rounds. This allows you to arm your 37mm anti-tank gun and your recoilless rifle and protect the positions from tanks and infantry. Or simply to load up your supply truck with the ammo and mines. The resin items are pre-painted with an enamel so consider that if you decide to weather the crates.
