Description: TINTED 1/4 PLATE DAGUERREOTYPE - SUPER 1840's FAMILY OF THREE + MILLINERS MODEL DOLL - The two parents flank their young daughter holding the forth member of the family, a papier mache doll known as a "Milliners Model" doll. The focus is wonderful throughout the frame and even on this doll. The both parents adorn their best 1840's attire and the mother's tie has an almost pearlescent tinting applied. What I find endearing however, is the inquisitive expression the daughter has as she peers into the operator's lens. I am sure this quarter plate was revered by the family, but now it is time to find another collector to enjoy being the caretaker of this superbly captured portrait. CONDITION: Please view my detailed photos for the actual condition of the image and as part of my description. The quarter plate came to me resealed with P90 archival tape and fitted with new glass. The image has some natural patina and a few faint mat abrasions. One small area of uneveness to the plate can be seen in the upper right side next to the mat. Wonderful contrast, rich tonal range and razor sharpness only add to the overall quality of this families quarter plate. The case includes the a wonderful patterned pillow, the two working clasps and a nicely replaced hinge. I will ship this item to the winning bidder carefully packaged by Priority Mail.
