Description: 14" PRECIOUS MOMENTS DOLL BY SAM BUTCHER Samuel J Butcher’s Samuel John Butcher was born shortly after midnight in Jackson, Michigan on January 1, 1939. He was the third of five children who grew up in a very poor family. The family moved to Northern California when Sam was quite young, settling in rural Redding. AS HE GREW UP HIS INTERESTS WERE ARTISTIC..INCLUDING DRAWING, SKETCHING, ETC ..AND ALWAYS WITH A RELIGIOUS OVERTONE...PRECIOUS MOMENTS ARTWORK WAS INTRODUCED TO THE PUBLIC IN 1975 , INCLUDING AN INSPIRATIONAL GREETING CARDS AND POSTERS, FIGURES AND DOLLS...HE CREATED A FACTORY IN THE PHILLIPPINES WHICH PRODUCED HIS PRODUCTS AND FROM WHERE THEY WERE SHIPPED.. .In 1984, Mr. Butcher and the Precious Moments company acquired 17 ½ acres of land in Carthage, Missouri as the site of the Precious Moments Park. Over the years, as the company expanded, additional acreage was added. The property now sits on more than 3,000 acres.
