Description: 1/4 plate daguerreotype of a handsome young couple in front of a painted backdrop. The man's arm is around his wife's shoulders. Inside of the case is a great inscription, signed (?) Miller. The back of the plate is dated May 1857.. hard to see, but I can read it with my cell phone flashlight, holding it at an angle. The chair and backdrop belong to Springfield and Westfield, Massachusetts photographer Thomas P. Collins... I think in 1857 he was in Westfield. The dag is in excellent condition with its original unbroken seals in place. The underside of the glass is very dirty but there are no issues with the plate; If the seals weren't intact I would've cleaned it! Will leave that to the new owner. Case is in very nice condition though the covers are separated. Boxed shipping.
