The original Estienne edition (1548), collects a fragment from a 15th century manuscript that covers books 36-60. This covers 36-80 with brief remarks at the rear on the other books. Cassius Dio was a Roman statesman and historian of Greek and Roman origin. The documents he published documented the subsequent founding of Rome (753 BC), the formation of the Republic (509 BC), and the creation of the Empire (27 BC), up until 229 A.D. Written in Ancient Greek over 22 years, Dio’s works covers approximately 1,000 years of history.
