This large, authentic intaglio engraving was part of an extremely rare set started in 1693 by Louis de Courcillon de Dangeau on geography. His goal was to produce a new method for easily teaching geography to students. To do this, he drew numerous identical, blank geographic maps (base Map ) with added, often by hand, the information necessary for each lesson. He also left completely blank cards in order to question the Student. By this method, the author demonstrated great modernity in comparison with the methods of the time in terms of learning geography.
