In a Series of Letters to those Gentlemen by the Vindicator of the Minutes [JOHN FLETCHER] The Fourth Edition printed and sold at the New Chapel, City Road, London, in 1790. Here we have a collection of 13 letters written by John Fletcher in defence of the Church of England protestant religion to Richard and Rowland Hill, who were evangelical preachers with leanings towards Methodism. The book also includes:2) The First Part of the Fifth Check to Antinomiansim With an Appendix (Second Edition) printed by W Pine, Bristol, in 1774.3) The Second Part of the Fifth Check to Antinomianism (Third Edition) printed and sold at the New Chapel, City Road, London, in 1789.4) The Fictitious and the Genuine Creed: Being "A Creed for Arminians" Composed by Richard Hill, Esq., (Second Edition) printed by R Hawes, London, undated, but Preface dated 1774.Brown marbled leather boards with gilt bands and gilt decoration on the spine. Minor wear to boards and spine. Name of previous owner on the inside of the front board and name in ink scribbled out on the prelim. Browning to endpapers and pages.
