Description: A VERY GOOD SMALL-SIZED 17th CENTURY EASTERN EUROPEAN (Polish?) WAR-HAMMER/AXE, ca. 1650 (ON LATER HAFT): In overall very good condition with a 5" x 1 1/2" wrought-forged, iron axe-head with a rear Rectangular "Hammer-head" finial. The Faceted Hammer-head with a squared face and lightly oxidized & pitted surfaces. The sides of the head with later steel, side-terminals/langets with gunmetal-toned steel surfaces, en suite with the head. In overall very good condition with generally smooth steel-gray surfaces, a richly toned age patina and some scattered pitting. Mounted on a later (20th Century) cylindrical hardwood handle/haft. The handle with scattered light abrasions and dark, smooth surfaces. A nice example of a Small-Sized mid-17th Century Eastern European (Polish?) Horseman's Hammer, ca. 1650.
