Description: 17th Century William & Mary Chest of Drawers Country of Origin: EnglandCirca: 1690 This antique chest of drawers is crafted from oak, displaying the rich patina and grain typical of furniture from the William & Mary (1689-1702) period. The chest features four graduated drawers—two smaller ones on top and three larger ones below—each adorned with later brass batwing escutcheon-style handles. The drawer fronts showcase simple, yet elegant lines, reflecting the restrained yet practical design typical of early English furniture. The chest stands on two prominent bun feet in the front and two stile feet in the back, which are indicative of the period’s design. The side panels and the back of the piece are composed of simple framed sections, a construction technique also consistent with this era. The top surface shows signs of wear with visible scratches and markings, suggesting it has been well-used and cherished over the centuries.
