18" Antique Bisque Kestner 154 Shoulder-Head Labeled Kid Body Fur Brows Germany

Description: From my collection: She has been displayed away from heat and sun and is in good used condition after 125 years of age and play. 18-inch antique bisque shoulder-head mold #195 by J.D. Kestner of Walthershausen, Thuringia, Germany, circa 1900. Kestner was known as the King of Dollmakers. Kid-leather body and bisque lower arms. Head marked: 7.195 DEP (Likely marked Germany under the pate; however 1892 was the year that dolls had to be marked with country of origin so she could possibly have been made prior to 1892.)Bisque head with blue glass sleep eyes with real upper lashes (missing lashes on each eye) and painted lower lashes. The Kestner 195 mold has inset fur eyebrows. She has blushed cheeks, open mouth with 4 teeth, and terra cotta lip color.Her pate is glued on; she has a brunette replaced synthetic wig with curled bangs. The bisque shoulder-head does not have any cracks in the bisque. There is some old glue on the back of the head. Body: Her kid-leather Kestner body is marked with the Kestner label on the chest. She has repairs from age and play as she is over 125 years old. Someone has added stitches to the shoulders where the leather meets the body and there is some glue where the leather meets the bisque lower arms. The leather shows wear at rthe joints and bends of the body. The leather on the arms is worn from age and play. Repairs were also noted on the left foot. The bisque hands are good. Clothing: She wears a vintage replacement lightweight satin dress with lace edging at collar and cuff sewn by a professional seamstress. The tag inside the dress shows that the dress was made in 1986 by Ethelyn Ferro. The dress snaps in back and is a tight fit when it is snapped closed, but it does close (see photo). The muslin slip is antique; the pantaloons are vintage. The socks and shoes are vintage old store stock and work well for her. The stand is included.
