Description: 23" Early type German (or French) Fashion doll, Antique Paper mache shoulder head, circa 1840 - 1860 This doll is a part of American pioneer history PROVENANCE: Doll was purchased in 1856 with 50cents from selling 5 dozen eggs and used to brighten up a small cabin with a dirt floor by the grandmother of children who would look at her laying on the bed. * Provenance comes with doll Doll stand includedClean condition; no parasites or odors. Blue paperweight glass eyesPainted features Stroked brows with upper & lower lashes Closed mouth in sweet smile Blonde goat skin/hair in braided bun The ol' gal is in great condition to be 170 years old Original body of gauze stuffed with straw Arms are also paper mache Boots are original leather No identifying marks Clothes are not original but are definitely antique copper color silk w/plastic buttons. Jacket is pinned on; skirt snaps. She wears: Cotton pantaloons, cotton half slip, silk skirt, silk jacket with a pin, knit shawl and velvet hat. Silk is melting and sun stained. Slip is stained. Pin is plastic. Cotton gauze pantaloons are stitched on.
