Likely dating to the Victorian period and weighing nearly 12 pounds, this is an antique domed top carriage, railway or steamer trunk or chest. Constructed of sturdy pressed metal, this trunk was painted with a floral design at some point over the past 150 years. This locker likely followed an immigrant across the Atlantic Ocean --- oh, the stories it could tell! Found among the contents of an estate here in eastern Virginia. Restore the locking mechanism or use as-is. A great addition to your utilitarian decor collection! CONDITION DETAILS: VERY GOOD. Needs a thorough cleaning. Spots of surface rust on lid and underside. Normal dings and shallow dents, but no holes, rust rot or modification. The interior lock hasp is missing. The wire lid dogs may not be original. The key to the lock is also not included.
