Question #1 answer: The pot sits rock steady on my range, but just to be sure I checked it with a straight edge. I was surprised to see there's ~1/8" of light on the edge - so it turns out it's not PERFECTLY flat. Mine is a gas range, but I believe it should work fine even on a radiant glass cooktop. The pot has a 10" diameter.
