1805 Early American Coin Silver Coffin End Teaspoons

Description: This set of two coin silver teaspoons from the turn of the 19th century (c. 1790s-1810) each feature a coffin handle engraved with the monogram PSH in script on the front (middle initial unsure - please determine for yourself) and stamped with the maker's mark, J.C. on the reverse. Some early American silversmiths who used such a mark included Joseph Clark , Danbury, Conn. and Newburgh, New York (c. 1791-1817); Joseph Coolidge Jr., Boston, Mass. (b. 1747-d. 1821); and Jonathan Crosby, Boston, Mass. (c. 1796). While we are not sure who the exact silversmith is, it is likely to be one of these three, but it certainly could be someone else with the same initials. Each spoon (guaranteed coin silver) is in overall excellent condition. One spoon has a few very minor dents in its bowl but otherwise neither spoon shows no dents, no monogram removal and no repairs. Each spoon measures 5-5/8 inches long.Weight: 25.5 grams Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
