Copley had close associations with leading Republicans of the twentieth century, including Barry Goldwater, Richard Nixon and Spiro Agnew. Copley's presence was a chief reason that the Republican National Convention of 1972 was originally planned to be in San Diego.With the stamp of Atmore Beach to the tail of the front pastedown of the chemise.With the inscription of Thomas Jolly, Dated October 1835, to the front free endpaper.With eight pages of advertisements to the rear.An early edition of this scarce work. CONDITION In the publisher's original paper covered boards. Discolouration and losses to back strip, with rear board detached. Front joint starting, with board firmly held. Held in a quarter crushed morocco slip case, and cloth covered chemise. A touch of fading to slip case back strip, with light rubbing to back strip head and tail. Bookplate to front pastedown of chemise. Inscriptions to front pastedown and front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned, with handling marks and the odd spot throughout.
