Cracking and partial looseness to front board. Text block remains bound well and rear board remains nicely affixed. Small losses and general wear to end pages at front and rear. A scarce 1st edition by Jesse Lee (1758-1816), a Methodist clergyman, pioneer, writer, and preacher. After writing multiple books, Lee would be appointed Chaplain of the United States House in 1809, (this piece written during his tenure), before being appointed Chaplain of the United States Senate in 1814, retiring shortly before his death.
