A scarce 1st edition by Jesse Lee (1758-1816), a Methodist clergyman, pioneer, writer, and preacher. After writing multiple books, Lee would be appointed Chaplain of the United States House in 1809, (this piece written during his tenure), before being appointed Chaplain of the United States Senate in 1814, retiring shortly before his death.
