Description: Lovely, complete, nine volume set in very good condition. Bound in three-quarter leather, and signed by Riviere. Printed in 1816, and still in great condition. Pages are clean and tightly bound, save for some transfer staining on the first volume title page from the frontispiece engraving. Books are free of any major damage, unpleasant odor, or writing in text. Small bookseller note in pencil on a free end paper and a previous owner attached bookplates to the inside covers. Corners rubbed, and bindings have a very small amount of rubbing in spines. Leather is still complete, and the bindings are all fully intact. Wikipedia: Benjamin "Ben" Jonson (c. 11 June 1572 – 6 August 1637) was an English playwright, poet, actor, and literary critic, whose artistry exerted a lasting impact upon English poetry and stage comedy. He popularised the comedy of humours. He is best known for the satirical plays Every Man in His Humour (1598), Volpone, or The Fox (c. 1606), The Alchemist (1610) and Bartholomew Fair (1614) and for his lyric poetry; he is generally regarded as the second most important English playwright during the reign of James I after William Shakespeare.[2] Track Page Views WithAuctiva's Counter
