Description: I've been asked to sell a collection of antique clocks. Offered here is a clock circa 1820. Made by Eli Terry (1772-1852) Marked on the inside case as such along with warranted and Mark Leavenworth (case maker) and Conn. City name only shows as bury. The rest is not there. Inside is lined with unreadable newspaper. The clock is a pillar and scroll shelf clock. It is 31.5 by 17.5 by 4.5 inches. The weights are lead and I can see a bell and striker. The pulleys are made of wood. Brass pendulum. Weight driven. The face is hand painted with flowers and raised painted scroll work. The door is reverse painted picture of Mount Vernon. The knob to open the door is present, but not attached. The area the knob goes into has what looks like inlaid shell work, but it is split and one side comes out. Finials are metal, most likely brass. The face has a scratch as shown. The reverse painting is just starting to flake. One side shown in the 15th picture has slight damage toward the bottom. The cord to a weight is not attached, but is present along with a piece of wood that was with the case, but do not know where it goes or if it goes. It is also dusty. There is an unusual crank style key. See picture 13. Clock can still be wound, but is not working. Clock weighs approximately 35 pounds before packing and will be assessed an oversize fee by the carrier because of the size. Pickup is more than desirable.
