Description: Nice New Testament from Jedidiah Howe and George W Mertz nicely bound with fancy brass clasps with scalloped edges coming to a point on the leather side and small half circle shapes on the hook side. Inside front is “Susan Burkert/ Loned to Sister Peiffe as long she live from E. Miller October 3 1899”. Inside on the back board is written, in pencil, “October 1890/Emmanuel Miller/????? Township/Lebanon County”. The binding is in good condition with some damage to the spine ands scuffing as well as the usual foxing and browning to the paper due to age. Clasps work quite nicely and are unusually “fancy”.
