This work was published upon the opening of the Wesleyan Proprietary Grammar School in Sheffield, intended to thank the people who contributed to its opening, and to set out the goal and discipline of the school. It includes a list of the directors, trustees, officers, proprietors, as well as a list of the initial students enrolled. The school was in competition with Church of England's Sheffield Collegiate School, which had opened a couple of years prior. In 1884 the two schools merged, re-naming themselves to Wesley College. Again in 1905 they merged with the Sheffield Royal Grammar School, changing their name again to King Edward II School. With a folding frontispiece of the Sheffield Wesleyan Proprietary Grammar School. Collated, complete. CONDITION In the original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Light markings to the boards, mostly to the rear board. A little fading to the head of the rear board and to the rear joint. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine, which has resulted in just a little loss to the head, with light bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the very odd scattered spot and handling mark, and light offsetting to the half-title page due to the frontispiece.
