Description: This is a set of twenty (20) antique books. 1840 on title pages. GOETHE'S COMPLETE WORKS Goethe's Sämtliche Werke. Each book measures 4.75 x 6". For the most accurate description of condition, please study the photos. My Notes: The volumes get thicker as the volume number goes up. This makes for a nice shelf display. Black leather spines with gold detailing. Marbled boards and edges. Each book contains two "volumes" and all volumes are present, 1 through 40. The spines are grey with age. They show some wear, scratches, scuffs, etc. An application of your preferred leather treatment would brighten the spines, or display as is. The marbled boards are generally in good condition. Some bumps and bruises here and there. The top edge is dusty. These books came from a California estate. Pink end sheets. Green ribbon bookmarks. Contents appear clean and near fine. Some pages are a bit wavy. Bindings are square, straight and tight. Overall a very good set, in nice bindings. This set is in GERMAN. I have many more GERMAN books to list from this estate.
