Description: c. 1830's - the cover to The Soldier & His Bride sheet music. Issued by Firth & Hall of New York. The lithograph depicts a scene of a violent killing of a woman (bride) by two Indians. An extremely disturbing image to be published to the public. The caption underneath the scene states; "Accurate view of the scene where the murder of Miss McRed took place". The last name may not be spelled accurately. This was dedicated to Henry Clay who had once had stated that that he felt that Native Americans were a lower form of life who could never be assimilated with the American people. However in the election campaign of 1832 he to defended their right to land and sovereignty.A rare and interesting political commentary. Good condition. See pictures.
