Description: 1841 O Seated Liberty Quarter (Double Die Obverse) in Very Fine condition with nice original darker toning & surfaces. There are a few small scattered light marks noticed under magnification. This coin has a lower mintage of 452,000 & only about 600 survivors for all varieties. This is the "Double Die Obverse" Variety, the doubling is especially noticed on the obverse in the "Liberty" & the Shield. This at one time was a very rare coin & then in the early 1980's a hoard was found in New Orleans at a construction site were an old bank was once located. Most of the coins were from the New Orleans Mint dated 1840 & 1841 with about half of the surviving population of the 1841 O Double Die Obverse coming from this hoard. For this variety there are probably about 200 - 300 survivors or so making this variety a R-3. Due to the darker heavy original toning this coin could be a probable New Orleans Hoard Coin. A very interesting scarcer & attractive coin from the New Orleans Mint.
