Description: The works of Michael de Montaigne comprising his essays, letters and journey through Germany and Italy with notes from all commentators, Biographical and Bibliographical Notices etc.. edited by William Hazlitt.1845 John Templeman 2nd edition HB, 16cm x 256cm, 660pp. The book has original boards with wear and rubbing, originally the spine had been damaged but this has been sympathetically repaired (as clearly shown) and is now tightly bound and square. Internally there is a private plate inside the front board and an inscription from 1892 on the ffep. The front gutter is cracked but repaired with canvas binding, the rear gutter is cracked with slight separation but has not been repaired. Internally the book is tight and solid with a firm text block, there is no writing or soiling and though there is some heavy foxing this is mostly to the prelims, though there is some sporadic foxing through out. I have taken the time to take many detailed photos of the book (the actual book for sale) showing both contents and condition. Please look closely at these photos so you can see exactly what you are bidding on.
