Description: This is a scarce early flint glass Pittsburgh pillar mold molasses pitcher from the mid 1800s with its original tin collar & tin flip top....hand blown by a Pittsburgh glasshouse in the 1850s. Thick heavy flint glass....clear.....8 pillars beginning at base and tapering up to a large applied triple shoulder ring.....9"tall x 4 7/8"across base........Shiny nice condition with only a crack across the bottom of applied glass handle; no other damage. A nice clean mollases or syrup pitcher.....These are often called "Steamboat" pitchers because they were popular on the steamboats going up and down the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. The larger bottom and heavy glass made it very difficult for this pitcher to fall over, even when the going was rough...We just cant keep everything, so after 50 years of digging and collecting we have decided to part with many of our bottles (to make room for more..haha)...so keep watching our listings as many rare treasures are being found! .... THIS IS A FIXED PRICE ITEM FOR SALE IN MY STORE. .....Free postage only if you live within the U.S.A.....Shipping charge is NOT fully included in the price if you live anywhere outside the United States.
