Black manufactured this plaque at approximately the same time as his larger National Medallion Plaque. Surrounding an 3 1/2"diameter reproduction of John Trumbull's painting of the Declaration of Independence signing, is the typescript text of the entire Declaration of Independence with script signatures of the signers rendered below. At the bottom of the panel is Black's copyright legend: "Entered According To Act Of Congress, In the Year 1859 By S.H. Black In The Clerk's Office Of The District Court Of The United States For The Southern District Of New York." The whole design is surrounded by several detailed borders.
