Description: This is an original 1860 published large oval format color lithograph of Nassau Hall, Princeton University in Princeton, NJ. This is the scarcer oblique view of the hall by McGuiness & Smith issued the same year, I think, as the straight on view by Thompson. Both views were after original paintings by Frank Childs. This view shows the hall after rebuilding from the fire of March 10, 1855 showing the staircases added to the ends of the building. The architect for the rebuild was John Notman. Frame is 27 1/2 by 23 inches with old wavy glass. It has all museum grade rag matting and the glass has been cleaned inside so there is no detracting inside haze on the surfaces of the glazing. Ready to hang on the wall as it is! Essentially it has been conserved to make it last for another 164 years. Hinge mounted and not laid or glued down. Usually prints like this are in a rough condition and need expensive restoration or conservation (easily over $500 to start) but this example is already taken care of for the buyer.
