Description: 1860s Ball Black Coin Silver King's Pattern Soup SpoonOffered is a rare civil war era coin silver soup spoon possibly made by John Wendt. Measuring approximately 6 7/8" in length; it weighs 67 grams. It is in nice condition and has been professionally polished. There is an unknown crest engraved on the back of the handle (5th pic). Is is stamped 'BALL BLACK & CO' on the back. It is monogrammed on the front. John Wendt made much of the silver sold by Ball Black in the 1860s. He is also known to have made and patented the King's pattern. As e he rarely hallmarked his work, it is impossible to attribute individual pieces to him with any certainty.
