Description: An appealing & very scarce cdv photo showing Marshall's Falls Delaware Water Gap Pa. & N. J. The cdv we are offering has an in period penciled location id on the back. There is no photographer's id on our cdv. However, this view is also known in several different varieties of stereoviews which are identified (in the Getty Museum Collection) as being taken by T. Anthony. The stereoviews turn up occasionally. However, it is rare to find this view in cdv form with this being the first example of a cdv of this view that we have ever seen available. Some very similar, images on stereoviews reside in the Getty Museum Collection with an attribution to T. Anthony circa 1864. Also, several stereoviews of this same view reside in the Library of Congress Collection which are unmarked but are attributed to George Tracy of N. Y., N. Y. & circa 1865 (1860-1870). Additionally, one stereoview of this very same image resides in the New York Public Library with no attribution to a specific photographer. So, with more than one attribution of the stereoviews as to the photographer by major museums, we will leave it up to the advanced expert to figure out if this photo was by T. Anthony, George Tracy, or some other photographer. We have not located any other examples of cdv's of this view in collections. In any instance this is a very scarce cdv view. The cdv measures 3 3/4 inches tall by 2 7/16 inches wide. There is some wear to the top two corners & there is some light browning from age. The bottom two corners have in period trim which was performed to expedite album insertion.
