Description: Stereoview photograph of tourists in a narrow chasm with a rustic bridge, probably in New England or New York, circa 1850s to 1860s. The untitled and unidentified view shows two women and a man standing at the entrance to a narrow chasm with two more men standing high above them on a small rustic bridge. These folks are dressed in clothing that dates to the early 1860s and the first years of the American Civil War. I suspect the location is in upstate New York, perhaps in the Catskills, or New England, maybe the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The stereoview is in good condition with light wear and soiling. Note the rubbing at the square corners of the mount. The photographs exhibit good tonal range (a little light throughout) and show good or better 3d effect and detail. Nice early square mount stereoview!
