Description: Neat double rate cover from Port Chester NY to Peru in 1868 . Davis correspondence, typical (very) rough condition but a spectacular franking of a strip of 6 10-cent 1861 issue, with 2 grilled 3 cent issues and a 2 cent blackjack as well. 48 red credit marking; small Panama handtamp. Corner damage at lower right with significant internal tearing in the address area. Tear goes between the 2 10 cent stamps at far right of the cover but didn't damage either of them (though it did mostly sever the right stamp from the strip). Still a showpiece despite the condition.
