Description: The Agricultural Department, Washington, D.C. 1872 This is an original wood engraved sheet which was published over 150 years ago! It is a single page only, from The Illustrated Christian Weekly issue of Sept. 7, 1872. The overall sheet measures 11 x 16 inches in size, and is in excellent condition. The attractive wood engraved view of the Agricultural Department is 7x13 inches, and the rest of the page is devoted to the beginning of an article on the history of the Department. There are over 100 lines of text on the page, and a photocopy of the rest of the article will be included. The piece would be great for anyone employed by the Ag. Dept., as the story with the engraving ends by saying of the bureau's workers: The entire work is prosecuted economically and indicates that there are conscientious men even in official positions in Washington, who are not striving for personal honor or aggrandizement, but are truly laboring for the public good, that is for your good and mine. p2292 _gsrx_vers_1680 (GS 9.8.3 (1680))
