Free US Shipping on Purchases of 5 or More Maps and Prints Description: It is an authentic antique print approximately 138 years old from Le Tour du Monde, Nouveau Journal des Voyages, edited by Edouard Charton and illustrated by "the most celebrated artist of the day" according to the journal. Certainly it was illustrated by some the best French Illustrators and academic artists of the day, on many of the prints you can find the artist's name in the caption, see the pics. Titled in French. It is not matted nor framed being sold as a single sheet as shown in the main pic. Le Tour du Monde was a popular travel journal that ran from 1860-1914 and was sold in bookstores and railway stations appealing to the adventurous interested in travel and exploration with articles ranging from expeditions in Nepal and Egypt to the Polar Conquests. This print is from the series that was published in 1880, a facsimile copy of the title page is included for documentation. These are very well preserved prints published on cotton pressed paper of the period, thus they haven't yellowed with time like the more acidic tree pulp paper that began to appear at the end of the 19th century. Overall, a very beautiful print that would frame up well. Size: The dimensions of the print area between the neat lines measures 6 1/4 by 9 1/4 inches (16x34cm) on a page measuring 8 by 11 3/4" (20x30cm) with a margin all around as seen in the main pic. Condition: The print is in Very Good to Excellent condition, text on reverse. Other than a couple of minor light spots around the edges of the margin, it is very clean on a bright page that would frame up well, see the pics for more on the condition.
