Description: This listing is for an early bound printing of "The Night Before Christmas," dated 1883. One of the first storybook-style hardcover printings, the book is known for its beautiful woodcut illustrations and attractive binding, which came in several variations. It measures 6.5 x 7.5 inches. Hardcover construction is textured paper litho over boards with card stock pages. This 140 year old book is in good/acceptable condition overall. The cover shows soiling and staining to the top, with wear to the outer edges. Pages are clean and binding tight. There is an attractive bookplate and owner's inscription on the inside front cover. Note that the card stock pages are prone to breaking loose, so this book and its different variations should not be opened too wide (I used facsimile photos of the illustrations to avoid damage).
