Description: 1888 Queen Victoria Jubilee Head Silver Antique Crown Coin Gift Set To celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the reign of Queen Victoria, 1837 to 1887, it was decided to issue a new design coinage. The new "Jubilee Head" obverse design was engraved by L.C. Wyon from designs from Sir J Boehm and the new reverse design of the crown was based on Pistrucci's famous treatment of St George and the Dragon. For the first time, the crown was issued with a milled edge. The new designs lasted for only six years, the "Old Head" design was introduced in 1893. This display contains the second of the six, dated 1888. The coin is 38.6mm in diameter and struck in 92% silver, KM Ref.765. The coin is housed within a display that is held in a protection case, sized just over 17cm x 12cm. The display and case are in New/Mint condition and the coin is in Fine (or better) condition. Our manufacturing process includes a precision laser cutting method to create the necessary holes in each display for the required coins to be inserted and held, safely recessed, in the correct position. This would make a wonderful gift for a coin collector. The product can be removed from the protection case, to allow frame mounted display, if so desired.
