Description: 1889 DeHaven Family History VIRGINIA Genealogy Paper Ephemera Lot with Handwritten Notes and original antique book and original 1889 ribbon. This small lot is chock full of Virginia history — particularly the city of DeHaven, Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley. The book is a third and fourth grade reader used in the school where one of the ancestors attended as a boy in 1895 when he was five years old. The school was located in the DeHaven, Virginia which is located in DeHaven County, northwest of Winchester, Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley. DeHaven was named after the ancestors of Korah Arnold Shade whose mother was Amy Angeline DeHaven. Her parents and grandparents were early settlers in the valley and received their land grants from Lord Fairfax of England, and named the surrounding territory where the DeHavens settled —DeHaven, Virginia. There’s so much more genealogical information included and so many interesting stories about the ancestors that I cannot fit it all here. There’s also a note written in red that states that the book is very old and to please be careful with it. This is an absolutely wonderful and one of a kind lot with loads of Virginia history.
