We found the following information on Alice Evans from "The Marie Burroughs art portfolio of stage celebrities, 1904": "Like many others who have become famous in farce-comedy roles, Alice Evans began her professional career as a variety performer. In that line she showed such ability in character sketches that she was engaged to create the part of Genie in the play of "Old Oleson." She made a great success in this part, and when Flora Walsh Hoyt died, Miss Evans was selected to take her place in the leading part of Bossy Brander in Hoyt's "A Texas Steer," in which tere is opportunity for the display of a wider range of ability than is usual in farce-comedy. Miss Evans meets all the requirements of the character and is an important factor in the continued success of this popular play, which continues to show great drawing powers wherever it is presented."
