1890's Vintage Book Bound Volume of Short Stories Scribners Magazine Illustrated

Description: 1890's Vintage Book Bound Volume of "Short Stories" from Scribners Magazine Illustrated Hardcover Book Binding is tight, though slightly stressed at the rear cover hinge, but there are no loose. There are a few torn pages, but not many - and some minimal pencil writing in book. Book measures 9 5/8" by 7 1/8" and 1 13/16" thick. Can't tell for sure how many pages this is, without counting them - because the pagination is all off. The book starts with 12 lined pages - much like notebook paper. The first printed page begins with a story "A Child of Silence" and at the top of that page someone wrote "Short Stories" in pencil. The first page with a page number on it is 626, the next story starts on page 590 and from there the pages bounce around from 700-something to 200-something and so on. Some of these stories are works of fiction and some are true stories - like magazine articles. Though this book does not say "Scribners Magazine" anywhere - my research tells me that these articles and stories are from that magazine. One such notes that Abdul Hamid is the current Sultan of Turkey - and he was Sultan from 1876 to 1909. There is a story titled "True Pictures Amont the Poor" which the internet tells me was published Scribners Magazine in 1894, in Volume XVI - and the text on the bottom of the first page of this story says "Volume XVI." So - that tells me that this book is likely a collection of stories and articles from Scribners, 1894 give or take (not sure if these are all from the same year) collected and bound into a hardbound volume.
