Stuart Robson (March 4, 1836 – April 29, 1903) was a famous comedic stage actor. He appeared in many theatrical productions from the 1860s to the early 1900s in New York City, Boston, and London. He was best known for his long collaboration with William H. Crane, which lasted over ten years. George O. Willard was an author who wrote the HISTORY OF PROVIDENCE STAGE in 1891. Presumably this letter is in reference to that book, as Robson wrote, "I devoted nearly an hour to your book today. Capital. The play-goers of a century ence will own you a debt which I wish heartily could be paid now". The letter is dated Oct. 8th 1891, written on Hotel Imperial stationary, Broadway & 32nd street, New York. 9.5 x 6" stationary; tri-folded. An interesting piece, with a rare autograph! Condition: Tri-folded paper; light stain about mid-section to the left. Very nice! Please examine photos carefully.
