E. B. and M. J. B. to the front paste down, set on out this exciting journey from the 8th March to 5th August in 1895.Throughout the volume, to the verso of each leaf, is pasted newspaper clippings from an article named 'Two Ladies in Palestine' by William Paley Baildon. Baildon was a barrister, fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London, and editor of 'The Home Counties Magazine' from 1906-1912. The letters in the article are from S. E. B. and M. J. B., sent to William during their travels. These two women were related to William, perhaps his sisters, daughters, or nieces.Ink to the front paste down, 'Letters from palestine Illustrated, S. E. B., M. J. B.', and in pencil to the recto to the front endpaper. CONDITION In a half morocco binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, generally smart. Crack to the front joints. A small amount of loss to the tail of the spine. A few light marks to the boards and spine. Minor bumping and rubbing to the head of the spine and to the extremities. Ink to the front paste down. Pencil note to the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Newspaper clippings have offset to the paintings. Some more serious faults as will be described in the condition report under 'condition' Good Only - Meaning one or more faults that could really do with repair Fair - As with good only above but with other faults leaving a compromised copy even after repair Poor - Really bad and possibly seriously incomplete.
