Description: This is a rather large Art Nouveau Era Brooch. It is crafted from 18K solid yellow gold with sterling accents. This piece is a signed piece by G. Gillo. There is another hallmark on the clasp of the plunger clasp, that for the life of me I can not capture with my camera. The piece can be worn as a pendant or a brooch. The back features a large soldiered bail as well as a straight pin with a plunger clasp. The Image is of the fine Grecian Goddess Aphrodite. It is a very fine and detailed rendering of her. She is perched on a column holding a mirror gazing at her natural beauty. She is adorned with fancy jewels, a crown, belt, arm band and an ankle band. To the right and left of Aphrodite are very high tall bearded irises also accented with diamonds. The bottom of the piece features a lions head. This pendant - brooch is presented in excellent condition with very little wear in all of the right places of the bloomed gold (acid finished to obtain a matte look to the gold).
