KESTNER German Dolly Face Doll Mold #171 ~ Kestner Alphabet Mold Series ~ on Original Stamped German Body Featuring: Perfect Bisque Socket with top-notch facial modeling and painting, offering an amazing doll face with flawless bisque in a powdery smooth bisque complexion. Blue Glass Sleep Eyes, Painted Lower Lashes, Feathered brown brows, Pouty Rosy Blushed Cheeks, Lightly Dimpled Double Chin, An open mouth with outlined lips, Four upper teeth, Accented red nostrils, Nicely formed ears. Brown mohair wig with her original Plaster Pate attached inside. The doll has clearly readable Incised German doll mark on the back of her bisque socket head: Made in Germany Fh 1/2 171 10 1/2 She's on her antique stamped and sized fully articulated ball-jointed wood & composition body with movement at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips and knees with a red ink stamp on the right side of the lower back, reads: Germany 2 1/2. In 1897 J.D. Kestner's company registered the famous Kestner Alphabet mold series. Doll’s with the alphabet series normally have the alphabet letter on the left and the size number on the right with the words “Made in Germany” in the middle. Kestner doll head mark with the alphabet letter on the left and the size on the right. The letter always followed a particular size. The L doll was always a 15. The L½ was always a 15½. She is wearing definitely antique batiste cotton chemise-slip and antique shows/booties with ties, and long stockings. Measurements approximately: 21" tall without pate, and 10 1/2" - 11" circumference of her head Condition Report: AS PICTURED. The bisque head has no chips, hairlines or restoration. The glass eyes are open and close as should be and are aligned well in the head. There are reminders of upper lashes which were cut very short and are very worn. The composition body has some wear to the finish, with some soiling, wear, scratching, some points of not major clipped off finish and rubbed off paint mainly around the neck, typical and to be expected. The stringing is strong, keeps a pose. The joints have some typical and expected wear. Left hand was refinished with two fingers much shorter or broken? and one finger with a hairline. Left leg has some difference in finish below knee, see photos. The wig is ver worn and uneven. The Plaster Pate is attached or glued to the wig inside. Her slip shows age darkening and wear with few tiny holes, it's not original and oversized. Her booties are antique, worn with slight damage at the soles, one pom-pom is missing.
