Description: On offer, we have 2 antique maps of England. Both are linen backed folding maps with cloth covered hard bindings measuring 6 3/4" X 3 7/8". Both are "New Half Inch Maps For Cyclists And Motorists" by "G.W. Bacon & Co. Ltd., 127 Strand, London". Both are "Copyright - John Bartholomew & Co. Edinburgh". Both are titled "New "Half-Inch Cycling Road Maps Of England And Wales". And, both have "Index To Towns - With their populations from the census of 1901". The maps are:1. "Preston District" 38" X 28". The front pages include advertisements, Railway Rates and a Light-Up Table with map. This has "Aerial Radio" hand printed on the cover in ink. There is some toning on the index page and some penciled notes on the map.2. "Lake District" was sold by Sherratt & Hughes'. It measures 30" X 37". An owner has written her name in pencil on the linen backing. This has a few spots. We believe these maps are in extraordinary condition for their age and use. Both bindings are worn. The fold marks on both are a bit worn with some separations at the corners. As I am not an expert on antique maps, please see my photographs for more description.
