II Volumes. 1903-1905, 658 pp, 750 pp, 6x9'', hardcover binding. As-is condition. Severe wear to the spines, as pictured. Age-related wear to the front and back covers of both volume. Age-related toning to pages and foxing to some pages and edges to pages in the second volume. Hinges are in good condition and pages are sturdy throughout both volume, with some slight wear at the center of the second volume. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. There are 773 selected Greek inscriptions in these two volumes. These include Greek inscriptions regarding the empire of Alexander, and the later kingdoms and provinces that emerged from the dissolution of the empire. The second volume focuses on Roman rule. Includes Greek writings at the top of pages and Latin translations below, as pictured. Wilhelm Dittenberger was a German philologist who focused on Classical philology. He was responsible for Athenian inscriptions on Roman rule, as well as inscriptions from places such as Megara and Beoetia, in an academic project by the Prussian Academy of Sciences to publish unknown inscriptions from the mainland and islands of Greece. The project is still active and has been moved to Berlin-Brandenburg. The severe wear to the spine could provide an opportunity for restoration, if desired by the buyer. FORN-ABE-MSB-Shelf-589-jr045
